Liverpool FC today announced the expansion of its International Academy program to Melbourne with the creation of a new partnership with Kilmore’s prestigious Assumption College.
This expansion will see Assumption College become the home of the first Liverpool FC Academy in Victoria and the first school nationally to offer a high-performance soccer school program delivered by LFC International Academy Australia in 2023.
In addition to the high-performance soccer program, the partnership with Assumption College will see the school host a range of Liverpool FC community training and holiday programs available to all aspiring players in the region.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership with Assumption College and our expansion to become Liverpool FC International Academy Australia. Assumption College has a long and exceptional history but also an innovative vision for the future” says Liverpool FC International Academy Australia General Manager Scott Collis.
“There was a clear alignment of values throughout our discussions and everyone here at Liverpool FC Australia is excited about what this new partnership can bring to students at the school along with players and coaches in the local community” Mr Collis added.
“Assumption College is thrilled to be the first school to partner with Liverpool FC International Academy Australia. Our day and boarding students will have access to a world class curriculum via our High Performance Soccer program” says Ms Kate Fogarty, Principal of Assumption College. “The program aligns with our ground-breaking curriculum that enables our students to access a truly personalised learning experience and exceptional sporting opportunities as they journey throughout secondary school” Ms Fogarty added.
In Australia, LFC International Academy is a partnership project between the world-famous football club and the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), Australia’s leading independent higher education provider for specialist degrees in Sport, Education, Health, Sport Business and Dance.
The vision for the new high-performance soccer program at Assumption is to use those combined resources to create an environment that mirrors the one experienced by players on a high-performance pathway in the UK.
This means not only a high quality and authentic LFC football program developing players technically, tactically and physically but also input into social and mental development, career pathways and life skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership.
“At the core of what we do is a belief in a holistic approach to development. We want to create opportunity for young players to be the best they can be as footballers but with ACPE we also want to ensure we contribute to a young person’s journey wherever that pathway leads” Mr Collis said.
Dan White, Vice President, LFC International Academies said, “We’re delighted to announce our first youth coaching project in Victoria, where we will be providing even more opportunities for young players in Australia to be part of Liverpool FC. Whether it’s the new school-based program at Assumption College, after-school sessions or holiday camps we aim to offer something that is truly unique, helping to develop the participants both on and off the pitch.
It will not only be players and students that benefit from this announcement. There will also be opportunities for local coaches to be comprehensively trained and accredited by LFC on this project. Developing local coaches through our education and development opportunities is a central component of our approach.”
